The all new Toyota RAV4 is evolutionary in every aspect, and promises to push the boundaries for the SUV segment. Sporting a new distinct exterior design, avant-garde interior and class leading features and technologies, the RAV4 is proof of the marque’s commitment towards building better cars.
The fourth generation RAV4 now bears a bolder outfit, with more pronounced lines and arches running through its sheet metal. Like many other recent offerings on the market, the RAV4 now comes with LED daytime running lamps to create a greater visual appeal, even when driving in the day.
On the inside, the RAV4 boasts a new 'clean' look, with switches and buttons ergonomically laid out for an enhanced experience. There are also use of quality materials to create an upclass feel. Smart entry and engine start button, as well as a multi-purpose steering wheel further enhance the ease of use.
Benchmarking the SUV segment
Underneath the hood is a new 2.0-litre engine featuring the firm’s renowned VVT-i technologies with VALVEMATIC. The result is a refined drive with reduced fuel consumption. In addition, the CVT transmission with seven-speed override smoothens the drive and at the same time enhances the fuel efficiency.
Also in the technical arsenal is the Dynamic Torque Control AWD system, which actively distributes drive to the rear wheels for optimum traction and a sportier drive. This also helps to improve the fuel efficiency of the car, as the SUV works mainly on its front wheels, sending torque to the rear only when necessary.
Other features include the segment's smallest turning radius, power rear gate with memory function, and an array of safety features, such as seven SRS airbags, Hill Start Assist and Downhill Assist and Seatbelts with Pre-tensioner and Force Limiter Function.
At press time, the RAV4 retails at S$197,988 and S$206,988 for the Elegance and Premium trim respectively.
