Asus unveils its latest compact in-car dash and portable camera with f/1.8 aperture lens, Sony sensor, Wi-Fi, and Asus Reco app.

Asus has revealed the Reco Smart, a versatile in-car dash cam that can also be used as a portable camera. It features a f/1.8 aperture lens, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology, and a Sony sensor for clear daytime and nighttime recording in 1080p full HD. The downloadable Asus Reco app connects the Reco Smart to any smart device via Wi-Fi for real-time video previews, downloads, and sharing. The Reco Smart has a motion-detection parking monitor mode, an emergency file backup in the event of an incident, and comes with 500GB of Asus WebStorage free for one year.

Clear full HD 1080p videos with parking monitor and emergency record function

The Reco Smart is a versatile camera designed primarily for in-car use. It is capable of recording full HD 1080p or 720p videos at a smooth 30 frames per second. It uses a Sony image sensor to deliver high-quality photos and videos with high color saturation and stunning clarity. The Reco Smart has a f/1.8 aperture lens that enables it to record minute details even in low-light environments, while WDR technology improves image quality even under high-contrast lighting for clear images and videos. A 150-degree wide-angle lens provides unobstructed views of the front sides of the vehicle and the road ahead.

The Reco Smart has a parking monitor mode to keep a watchful eye on the parked vehicle. It can be programmed to start recording when it senses movement in front of the vehicle and will stop recording when it detects no movement for one minute.

The Reco Smart has a three-axis G-sensor that triggers an emergency record and lock function to protect video files in a collision. A manual emergency-record button lets drivers save video footage should they witness an accident. It can also be programmed to send out a text message to a designated contact. It can be used as a portable camera as well, allowing users to get creative with its One-Shot, Time Lapse, and Photo Burst modes.

Full control with the Asus Reco app

The Asus Reco app connects the Reco Smart to any iOS or Android device via Wi-Fi to give the user full control over the camera. Users can preview, download, or share images and videos to friends and family. User preferences like resolution and G-sensor functions can be easily set up via the app's user-friendly interface, while NFC Engage ensures easy device pairing. The Reco Smart also comes with 500GB of Asus WebStorage - enough space for users to store up to 7,500 video files in the cloud.

    Full compatibility with camera accessories

Its 58mm filter ring and 1/4-inch screw mount ensures the Reco Smart's compatibility with tripod mounts, filters, and other standard camera accessories. A waterproof Reco Smart camera housing is also available. The Asus Reco Smart is currently retailing at $329. For more info, visit here.
