  • Audi A2 concept revealed

Audi has released a set of computer-generated pictures of its new A2 concept, which will be on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show

The A2 nameplate was first used on Audi’s innovative aluminium-constructed hatchback, which ceased production six years ago. The new A2 is a departure from the original concept, but will have an electric drivetrain when it goes on sale in two years’ time.

The new A2 is 70mm taller than the current three-door A1 hatchback, but is 18mm shorter at 3,800mm long and 50mm narrower at 1,690mm wide. However, Audi says that the A2 offers "plenty of room for four people" thanks in part to the flat interior floorboard, the ultra-thin seats and the absence of a traditional dashboard and lower console.

Other design highlights of the A2 include a dynamic light that runs below the edge of the window from the front to the rear of the car and which acts as side indicator emitting light impulses, while a similar light is also located in the cockpit area of the show car.
