For the first time in its three generation history the high-performance Audi S3 is now available with a retractable roof while the TDI gets a power bump.

For the first time in its three generation history, the high-performance Audi S3 is now available with a retractable roof. The all new 295bhp rated S3 Cabriolet (banner) - the first ever soft-top version of the high performance compact - is available to order now in the U.K.

Beneath the bonnet of the S3 is a 2.0-litre TFSI engine, linked exclusively to a six-speed S tronic transmission and transferring the power to the tarmac via the quattro all-wheel drive system.

The S3 Cabriolet accelerates to 100km/h, from nought, in 5.4 seconds and continues to a governed top speed of 249km/h. Combined fuel consumption stands at 16.9km/L, corresponding to CO2 emissions of 165g/km.

The S3 Cabriolet highlights its capabilities through specific cues such as aluminium finish door mirror housings, S-specific sculpted bumpers, a platinum grey radiator grille treatment and Xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights.

Inside, the S3 Cabriolet benefits from a standard flat-bottomed three spoke multi-function steering wheel wrapped in leather and pedals in brushed stainless steel. The S embossed front seats are upholstered in Fine Nappa leather with contrasting silver stitching.

Meanwhile, the A3 Cabriolet range has also been bolstered by a muscular 181bhp rated 2.0-litre TDI engine with quattro all-wheel drive system - the first in the history of the A3 Cabriolet. Providing a desirable combination of strong performance and a 27.6km/L economy potential, the A3 Cabriolet 2.0-litre TDI joins the range from October.

The higher rated 2.0-litre TDI engine is available in conjunction with either Sport or S line specification, and with either six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive or the six-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission and quattro. Sport specification elements include 17-inch alloy wheels, 15mm lower sports suspension, Audi drive select, aluminium interior details and front Sports seats.
