The facelifted A5 range now gets direct injection engines with forced induction, as well as features such as stop-start and energy regeneration as standard. As such, Audi claims that the facelifted A5 is now 11% more fuel efficient than before.
The entry-level engine for all three A5 models is the four-cylinder 1.8-litre TFSI petrol, which produces 170bhp and 320Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre engine with 211bhp remains unchanged, while there is a new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 added to the line-up.
Audi has also tuned the A5’s chassis to improve the cars’ driving dynamics. These changes include a new electromechanical steering, new damper settings and revised rear suspension bearings for more precise handling as well as greater comfort. Base models come with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, while buyers can specify rims of up to 20-inches in size as options.
Cosmetically, the revised A5 gets minor changes, such as the re-sculptured “wave” LED headlamps that is now an Audi trademark. Other changes include the modified front grille, the redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes, a new rear bumper and tweaked rear lights with optional continuous LED light strips.
Inside, the A5 Sportback now gets three rear seats to make it a proper five-seater, while there is also the new steering wheel and auto gearbox lever designs. Other updates include different finishes on the instrument panel and console, new trim options and an available MMI system with 3D imaging, Google Earth navigation and a WLAN hotspot.
