Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello have won the Australian Grand Prix, making it a perfect debut for the Brawn GP team. Toyota also had an impressive first race, with Jarno Trulli finishing third and Timo Glock in fifth.

With three laps to the chequered flag, the safety car was brought out after a clash between Sebastien Vettel and Robert Kubica. Both cars were unable to continue to the finish.

Lewis Hamilton finished in a surprising fourth place despite having started from the back after gearbox troubles resulted in him being penalised.

Both Toyotas had also started the race from the pits after being excluded from qualification times, after they were found to have contravened race regulations by having a wing that was too flexible.
