    A service technician is convicted of causing a fatal accident, and was fined $8,000 and banned from driving for five years.


    54-year old Kamis Johari pleaded guilty yesterday for causing death of a motorcyclist due to his negligence. He was fined $8,000 and banned from driving for five years.

    Kamis failed to keep a proper lookout when driving his van, and hit a motorcycle ridden by Mr Saravanan Raja. The accident took place at the intersection of Bukit Batok Road and Bukit Batok West Avenue 7 on 4th July last year.

    Kamis was also charged with causing grievous hurt to Ms Sumathi Rajamani, who was riding pillion on the bike. Both Saravanan and Sumathi were flung off their bike. Saravanan was taken to the National University Hospital in an unconscious state and died on the following day.

    Kamis could have been jailed for two years and/or fine for causing death by a negligent act.

    54-year old Kamis Johari pleaded guilty yesterday for causing death of a motorcyclist due to his negligence. He was fined $8,000 and banned from driving for five years.

    Kamis failed to keep a proper lookout when driving his van, and hit a motorcycle ridden by Mr Saravanan Raja. The accident took place at the intersection of Bukit Batok Road and Bukit Batok West Avenue 7 on 4th July last year.

    Kamis was also charged with causing grievous hurt to Ms Sumathi Rajamani, who was riding pillion on the bike. Both Saravanan and Sumathi were flung off their bike. Saravanan was taken to the National University Hospital in an unconscious state and died on the following day.
