This 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO finished in a rather awkward apple-green paint is now the most expensive car in the world. The 250 GTO was sold during a private sale last month for $35 (S$45.2) million where it broke all previous price records. Even in times where most countries in the world are facing uncertain economic situations, the recent sale just shows how much people are willing to spend over art influenced machinery.
 

Only 39 250 GTO's were ever produced, and it is interesting to note that this same car was worth only S$10.98 million, ten years ago. A Seattle based collector, Craig McCaw, has paid nearly four times that amount for a very exclusive car that was built by Ferrari for U.K. driver Sir Stirling Moss.
 

Sir Moss never got a chance to race it due to a horrible crash at the Goodwood Circuit in Sussex in April 1962 that put an end to his career. According to Bloomberg eight collectible Ferraris have  been sold over the past few months, bringing in a total of $135 (S$174) million for the sellers.
