Ford in Europe has announced that it has chosen a site in Valencia, Spain, as its preferred site to assemble future vehicles based on a next-generation electric vehicle architecture.
This Valencia plant is said to be set to produce breakthrough electric and connected vehicles beginning later this decade, pending product approval.
Ford is also moving forward with a $2.78 billion conversion of its Cologne, Germany, operations to begin producing electric passenger vehicles starting in 2023. This new lineup of electric vehicles for Europe will comprise of an electric version of the popular Ford Puma, alongside new efforts to extend its leadership in the commercial segment with the electric Ford Pro vehicles and connected services.
Ford is planning to raise sales of its all-electric vehicles in Europe plans to 600,000 units annually.
