  • Kia Picanto gets pulled over 48km in 24 hours for charity

The unique stunt, achieved within 24 hours and traversing just over 48km, managed to raise £12,000 for the Millimetres 2 Mountain Foundation.

In a rather unique charity event for the Millimetres 2 Mountain (M2M) Foundation, Ed Jackson and Ross Stirling have undertaken the challenge of pulling a car as far as possible – on foot, mind you – within 24 hours.

Fortunately – in a manner of speaking – for both men, the car in question was the new Kia Picanto 'GT-Line', the smallest and lightest in the brand's U.K. lineup, with a kerb weight of 985kg. In total, the men managed to drag the car for just over 48km and raise £12,000 for the foundation.

To add perspective to this achievement, former professional rugby player Ed Jackson broke his neck in a diving accident in 2017, and was told that he would have to adapt to life as a quadriplegic. Defying medical opinion, he has since gone on to summit mountains and, with his wife, co-founded the M2M Foundation.

During the challenge, the men were accompanied by a number of musical artists, albeit from inside the car. Though this added extra weight, it did provide laughs and entertainment along the way, in a manner similar to the 'Carpool Karaoke' segment of James Corden's American-based late night talk show.
