A man branded a 'road bully' by netizens, after videos showing him driving recklessly were widely viewed online, has been arrested for allegedly committing a rash act, reported The Straits Times.
In response to media queries, police confirmed that 24-year old undergraduate Quek Zhen Hao was arrested on Tuesday to assist in investigations.
Mr. Quek was the subject of heated criticism after two videos of him first attracted wide attention online earlier this month. Netizens have criticised his actions, labelling him an 'Ah Beng' and a 'public enemy'. Some even dug up personal information like the address of Mr. Quek's parents and circulated it online.
Mr. Quek later posted a video to apologise, but the controversy has not died down, with the videos drawing nearly 300,000 views so far, up from 250,000 last week. A rash act, which endangers the life or safety of others, can carry a jail sentence of up to six months or a fine of up to $2,500, or both.
