Mazda has given its 3 a mild facelift and upgrades at the Canadian Motor Show, with new Skyactiv-G engine technologies

Skyactiv is Mazda's high efficiency program, and the 3 is the first model to receive the technology, with the facelifted model getting a new Skyactiv-G petrol engine and Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission.

Mazda has not revealed details, but says that Skyactiv technologies will help improve fuel economy of its models by up to 30 per cent, by focusing on improving the efficiency of internal combustion core technologies in association with vehicle weight reduction. Stop-start, regenerative braking and hybrid systems will also be part of the Skyactiv technologies to further improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

Aside from Skyactiv, the facelifted Mazda3 also features minor cosmetic changes, such as modified bumpers, a revised grille, and new headlights. The 3 will also come with all-new designs for the 16 and 17-inch alloy wheels.
