  • Mercedes-AMG launches two electrified models at Suntec

Mercedes-AMG customers here in Singapore can now purchase the C63 S E sedan as well as the EQE53 SUV.

Electrification and performance met at Mercedes-AMG's booth at the 2024 Singapore Motor Show.

On display first off was the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance. Carrying the mantle from the previous Mercedes-AMG C63, this new performance sedan, as its revised name suggests, has gained plug-in hybrid power.

An electrically-assisted turbocharger allows the 2.0-litre M139 engine to push out a total of 469bhp before the assistance of the electric motor

Gone is the 4.0-litre 503bhp V8 from the previous car. This new C63 S E Performance instead makes use of a 2.0-litre engine which comes paired to an electric motor mounted at the rear, that latter of which generates a continuous output of 94bhp but can produce up to 201bhp for up to 10 seconds.

This electric motor is powered by a 6.1kWh battery that can be charged at a speed of 3.7kW and facilitates the car's all-electric range of 13km.

Combined, these allow the car to produce a total of 671bhp, alongside a maximum system torque 1,020Nm - which should be some consolation to those that will miss the burble of the V8. This output will see the car reaching from zero to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds, faster than the previous car's century sprint time of 4.0 seconds.

The MBUX system in the C63 S E Performance comes with a host of AMG and hybrid-specific displays and functions

On the exterior, this new C63 now sports an air outlet on its bonnet, while at the front, the car also now sports the black AMG emblem instead of the Mercedes star with laurel wreath. Unique side skirts, a rear apron with large diffuser, as well as the two trapezoidal, externally ribbed dual tailpipe trims all also distinguish the car from the regular C-Class.

Also launched at the motor show is the new Mercedes-AMG EQE53 SUV.

The all-electric performance SUV delivers a total of 671bhp alongside peak torque of 1,000Nm, which will see it hitting 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds.

You'll be able to identify the Mercedes-AMG EQE53 SUV from the more regular variants of the EQE SUV thanks to its front grille and redesigned front bumper

Just like the C63 S E Performance the Mercedes-AMG EQE53 SUV also sports the black AMG emblem on its front. This sits ahead of an AMG-specific black panel radiator grille with hot-stamped vertical struts in chrome and an integrated Mercedes star. The car also gets an AMG-specific front apron, which painted in the body colour with its A-wing in high-gloss black, alongside an aerodynamically optimised diffuser finished in body colour.

Examples of the Mercedes-AMG EQE53 SUV headed to Singapore will get including 22-inch rims, Mercedes' AMG Active Ride Control adaptive damping system, as well as active rear-axle steering all included as standard.

In the cabin, meanwhile, the SUV will come as standard with Mercedes' MBUX Hyperscreen system, which houses three screens within a single glass cover so that they appear as one single unit which stretches across the width of the dashboard.

A 90.6kWh battery powers the Mercedes-AMG EQE53 SUV, allowing it to post a WLTP range of up to 470km. This battery can be charged at a maximum speed of 170kWh.
