  • New Ferrari one-off makes its debut

The SC40 features a V6 engine, a bespoke SC40 White paintjob, and carbon-kevlar in its interior.

Ferrari has lifted the covers off its new one-off model from its Special Projects programme: The SC40, a mid-rear-engined V6 that takes its architecture, chassis, and powertrain from the 296 GTB.

The car's name pays tribute to the F40, the legendary Ferrari supercar unveiled in July 1987. The SC40 echoes its sharp, angular lines, which are combined with softer surface transitions. Its proportions feature a long, low nose balanced by a short rear overhang and a high, fixed rear wing - painted in the car’s bespoke SC40 White - that flows from the body's flanks.

The SC40's nomenclature pays tribute to the legendary 1987 F40 supercar

In addition, the fixed wing extends vertically from the engine cover and merges seamlessly with it, highlighted by a black separation line that enhances the black rear fascia. This area is composed of an open mesh revealing the mechanical and structural components beneath.

The SC40's V6 engine is showcased through Lexan louvres that connect visually to the lower air intake and are echoed by smaller louvres carved into its muscular rear wings near the wheelarches. The sculpted rear section is completed by a central exhaust produced in additive manufacturing and featuring titanium and carbon-fibre tips.

The SC40's interior features a lot of carbon-kevlar, while its seats feature a combination of Charcoal Alcantara and a red Jacquard technical fabric

Inside, carbon-kevlar has been reinterpreted and features in the footwells, behind the seats, and on parts of the floor mats. This distinctive material is also used for the steering wheel, some dashboard inserts, the engine bay, and the luggage compartment. The upholstery features a combination of Charcoal Alcantara and a red Jacquard technical fabric, while the seats feature the woven SC40 logo and the Prancing Horse emblem on its headrests.

Ferrari has said that a styling buck of the SC40 is currently on display at its museum in Maranello.
