This new road is part of LTA's road improvement works at Pasir Ris Central Street 3.
The road improvement works include localised traffic improvements to the roundabout next to White Sands. The roundabout is used as a pick-up/drop-off point for bus and train commuters as well as for loading and unloading activities by shops near the MRT station. A designated loading/unloading area is now provided near the new link road to facilitate loading/unloading activities in the area.
The road improvement works is expected to relieve congestion during peak hours and on weekends along Pasir Ris Central Street 3. With the completion of the road improvement works, the existing two-way traffic at Pasir Ris Central Street 3 will be converted to a one-way road.
Motorists going to White Sands can continue to enter Pasir Ris Central Street 3 from the junction of Pasir Ris Central / Pasir Ris Central Street 3 and exit at the next junction along Pasir Ris Central via the new link road. Please refer to the picture below for more details.
The opening of the new road on 3 May 2009 will be officiated by Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, and Dr Ahmad Magad, MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.
Motorists are advised to drive carefully when approaching the Pasir Ris Central/Pasir Ris Central Street 3 junction and to observe the traffic signal indications. LTA's Traffic Marshalls will be deployed on the ground to guide motorists on 3 May.
