A Nissan Ariya, piloted by husband-and-wife adventurers Chris and Julie Ramsey, has completed its Pole-to-Pole journey.

The 30,000km adventure started on the frozen Arctic Sea at the 1823 Magnetic North Pole, and saw the electric vehicle crossing the varied terrain of North, Central, and South America before finally reaching the South Pole, marking the first time any car has completed such an expedition, let alone an electric one.

The Nissan Ariya completed the journey thanks to its competent e-4orce all-wheel drive system, which allowed it to push through the tough terrain and climb to the high altitudes necessary to complete the journey. The vehicle is said to have received no modifications to its drivetrain or battery, however, its bodywork and suspension was modified by polar mobility specialists Arctic Trucks to allow it to accommodate 39-inch BF Goodrich tyres necessary for driving over the ice.
