The Opel Mokka is now available with mild hybrid technology.
The drivetrain makes use of a 134bhp 1.2-litre engine, but gets assisted by a 28bhp electric motor to help the crossover reduces its CO2 emissions by up to 20% while facilitating locally emissions-free driving at low speeds.
The mild hybrid system makes use of a 48V lithium-ion battery that recharges when the car is decelerating. This battery then charges the electric motor which assists the petrol engine when accelerating and when the car is starting from a standstill. Opel states the electric motor enable the Mokka to be driven on electric power alone for up to one kilometre or up to 50% of the time in the city.
This new drivetrain gives the car a WLTP fuel consumption of 20.4km/L, and allows the car to sprint from a standstill to 100km/h in 9.1 seconds. The car will race on to a top speed of 207km/h, and no space has been sacrificed in the cabin to make space for the new drivetrain.
