  • Range Rover Electric prototypes undergo hot-weather testing

Prototypes of the first all-electric Range Rover underwent rigorous testing of features such as its newest thermal management system in the UAE desert.

As part of the development of the first all-electric Range Rover, the brand has announced that prototypes of the new car will be undergoing rigorous hot-weather testing in the deserts of the United Arab Emirates.

From desert climbs to sun-soaked city cycles, Range Rover subjected its newest thermal management system to testing in temperatures of 50°C and up to 90% humidity, with the prototype surpassing the thermal testing performance recorded of any Range Rover on sand.

The Range Rover Electric's new thermal management system, which intelligently controls heat distribution around the vehicle, is put to the ultimate test

Its well-balanced weight distribution and an advanced suspension system maintain control and stability through the sand, with traction systems providing instant torque for quick acceleration and responsiveness when navigating sand dunes.

The Range Rover Electric's new Intelligent Torque Management system distributes the wheel slip management task directly to each individual electric drive control unit, reducing each wheel's torque reaction time to as little as one millisecond.

Defying all limitations, exemplary thermal performance was maintained continuously throughout intensive, prolonged desert driving

It was tested on the 'Big Red', a natural 91m dune formation in the Al Badayer desert and Dubai's greatest desert hill climb. All vehicles were subjected to completing the ascent five times without any reduction in performance before proceeding to the next testing stage, which they achieved with flying colours.

Excelling through this significant stage of development, preparations continue to refine the epitome of Range Rover luxury ahead of welcoming client reservations in 2025.
