Following from the revealed images of the new Golf GTI, Volkswagen has now revealed the first images of the updated Golf R (catch our review of the outgoing car here), ahead of its international debut scheduled for mid-2024.
The car, still decked in camouflage, was showcased at the Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, a fitting location to showcase the car's more wilder side. Piloting the Volkswagen Gold R at the event was Racing legend Hans-Joachim Stuck and six-time World Rallycross Champion Johan Kristoffersson, the latter of which said of the Golf R at the event, "there is a true sports car under the camouflage that fans of the R brand can already look forward to."
Volkswagen also showcased the Mk1 Golf GTI, the Mk IV Golf R32, a rally version of the Mk1 Golf GTI and two rally versions of the Mk II Golf at the ice race.
