Seamless cross-border road trips with your XPENG G6 or X9 - and not just from Singapore to Malaysia, but all the way up to Indonesia too.
That is the promise that XPENG Motors and Charge+ are jointly presenting to electric vehicle (EV) drivers, with the official launch today (23 September 2025) of a new strategic partnership that will eventually materialise in a network of co-branded DC 'supercharging' sites across Southeast Asia.
At least 20 direct current (DC) charging sites will form the base of this network, and the first phase should be of most interest to those who like driving into Malaysia. Already fully installed and in operation now, it comprises four sites, including two in Singapore (at Royal Square Novena and Downtown East), one in Kuala Lumpur (KL Eco City), and one in Bangkok (One Bangkok).
The second phase will see the network stretch out even further into Indonesia, along with further expansion within Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand individually. XPENG and Charge+ have specifically earmarked "high-traffic locations including commercial hubs, retail malls and highway rest stops" as future locations.
Wide geographical coverage aside, however, both parties are also touting the power of the charging sites within the network (hence the term 'supercharging'). Plans are already in place for DC chargers with power ratings of up to 480kW - far greater than the 120kW and 150kW DC chargers typically found in public spaces (such as shopping malls), and on par with the ultra-fast chargers set to be rolled out by Huawei on our shores.
This power rating may sound inexplicably high to most EV drivers at the moment, but there's good reason why both parties have made plans for such chargers.
Recently facelifted, XPENG's bestselling G6 electric SUV has seen its peak charging power rise from 280kW previously to a whopping 451kW now, thanks to its 800V platform and advancements in the brand's 5C Supercharging technology. At this level, the G6 can see its battery's state-of-charge go from 10-80% in just 12 minutes.
It's worth noting, however, that Phase 1 does not include such chargers at present. Within Singapore, both Royal Square Novena and Downtown East are instead equipped with 120kW DC chargers. Meanwhile, the most powerful hub is located in KL Eco City, which has six ultra-fast DC points that can deliver up to 350kW.
Charge+ has quickly established itself as one of the leading charging service providers in Singapore and Southeast Asia, and its latest partnership with XPENG comes as it continues efforts to implement an 'EV charging highway' across the region.
With Singapore and Hanoi as its bookends, the highway will span 5,000km and comprise 45 DC charging hubs when complete, covering major Southeast Asian cities including Penang, Hat Yai, Pattaya and Phnom Penh. Speaking at the event, Mr Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, reiterated the firm's vision to "catalyse electric mobility in the region", noting that its fresh partnership with XPENG reflects the two companies' "shared commitment to enable a seamless experience for long distance, cross border driving".
The latest announcement also comes as buyer demand for EVs continues to swell in Singapore.
XPENG, which is distributed by Premium Automobiles in Singapore, has proven itself to be among the leaders in this growing electric field, registering a total of 529 cars within the first eight months of 2025. (Premium Automobiles' expansive portfolio also includes three other electric brands from China: Zeekr, Deepal and AVATR.)
This figure, combined with the 336 units registered by the brand in 2024, means that at least 865 XPENGs have rolled onto Singapore's roads in less than two years since the brand's arrival last July. The numbers are all the more impressive when you consider that there are only two models within its lineup currently: The G6 SUV and the X9 MPV.
While this growing pool of XPENG owners may have to be a bit patient still as they await the arrival of the 480kW chargers, there's still plenty for them to enjoy at present.
The partnership now unlocks exclusive charging discounts for them at all Charge+ public chargers in Southeast Asia for three years. Additional discounts can also be enjoyed specifically at the XPENG-Charge+ supercharging hubs.
Furthermore, XPENG is committing to making the ownership experience for its drivers more enjoyable with enhancements to the XPENG mobile app. The brand is aiming to integrate all functions related to EV charging via the Charge+ public charging network - including locating chargers, starting and stopping charging capabilities, as well as payment and invoice services - within the app and vehicle dashboard by the end of 2025.
Finally, this latest development brings XPENG into a rarefied field of automotive players with their own branded chargers locally, including the likes of Tesla Singapore, Porsche Singapore and Audi Singapore.
