The Friendly Streets sites are designed to make walking and cycling commutes within neighbourhoods easier and safer, especially for seniors and young kids.
The extra funding will go towards enhancing first-and-last-mile connectivity and making getting around safer, more convenient and purposeful for residents.
The system, which will be piloted at Yishun and the Central area, will feature three types of signs: Kiosks, totems and fingerposts.
Each pilot town gets a customised set of Friendly Street features, to make walking and cycling in the town a safe and pleasant experience for residents.
Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok West, Tampines, Toa Payoh, and West Coast can all look forward to new pedestrian and cyclist-friendly features!
Five estates - including Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok West, Tampines, Toa Payoh and West Coast - have been outlined as pilot areas for the initiative.
