Chinese bike rental firm ofo, which began operations three weeks ago, told The Straits Times two weeks ago it has put out about 1,000 bikes for rent.
Commuters reacted angrily online; some said they had been stuck for longer than 20 minutes, others reacted in disbelief at the frequency of the breakdowns.
