BMW Brilliance Automotive has set up a closed loop for reuse of the raw materials nickel, lithium and cobalt from high-voltage batteries in China.
BMW will begin manufacturing the X5 at BBA Plant Dadong following an expansion to the site, making it the second location where the SUV is built.
The first pure electric model from BMW, the iX3, is confirmed to start production in China in late summer, and will be delivered globally.
