Each GT-R's 3.8 litre V6 is handmade and it comes with a transmission built to match that specific engine. The factory rates the engine at 522-hp. But, the actual horsepower of each GT-R can vary…depending on the mood of the engine builder.
Then there's the supercomputer-powered All-Wheel Drive system, which can help the car defy gravity in a curve. However, explaining it requires a PhD in computer science.
Basically, the Nissan GT-R is on par with the Bugatti Veyron in terms of computerized horsepower. And now, the 2011 GT-R is nearly as fast as the Bugatti is from 0-100 km/h.
That's right. Nissan just released official 0-100 times that it achieved during a press event at the Sendai Hi-land Raceway in Japan. The 2011 GT-R Pure Edition ran a consistent 3.0 second time over two days of testing (that's a 2.9 second time from 0-60 mph).
While that may be a full half-second slower than the Veyron. A 3.0 second time is good enough to best the McLaren F1 by 0.2 of a second.
