Despite new and bigger COE quota for passenger cars, November's second round of COE bidding saw prices rise across all categories. This is in line with the forecast that higher demand for new cars could push premiums up in the last few bidding exercises of the year.
Category A premiums, for cars, which are up to 1,600cc in displacement and contain no more than 130bhp, ended at $67,889 - nearly $3,000 (or 4.6 percent) up from $64,900 two weeks ago.
Premiums for Category B, for cars larger than 1,600cc in engine displacement or power output of more than 130bhp, recorded the smallest hike of $2,000 or 2.8 percent to end the bidding tender at $72,890.
Meanwhile, premiums for Category E or the Open Category ended at $73,900 - a hike of $2,600 or 3.6 percent from $71,300 in the last bidding.
