The revised A4 gets Audi's new six-point grille and sharper looking headlamps with LED daytime running lights that form a narrow band, redesigned front and rear bumpers, plus tweaked tail lights that reflect the shape of the head lights and come with LED strips.
The changes have also made the A4 bigger overall, with the A4 sedan and Avant estate variants now measuring 4700mm in length, and the Allroad Quattro and S4 versions now 4720mm in length. Width is now 1830 and 1840mm respectively, while wheelbase remains at 2810mm for all versions.
Under the bonnet, Audi has also revised the engine range of the A4, with increased power and torque as well as reduced fuel consumption. The A4 and A4 Avant will get a new 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine that produces 170bhp and 320Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit has also been updated, and is now available in three outputs, producing 136bhp, 163bhp or 177bhp.
The most powerful engine in the A4 range is the 3.0-litre V6 TFSI that produces 272bhp, and uprated to 333bhp in the S4 variant. The S4 is available in both sedan and Avant versions, and is able to rocket from 0-100km/h in 5 seconds, on to its electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
A six-speed manual gearbox is standard on the A4 Sedan and Avant models with front-wheel drive, with most variants offering an optional continuously variable multi-tronic transmission. The Quattro versions come with either a manual gearbox or the seven-speed S tronic double-clutch transmission, while the A4 Allroad Quattro employs a manual transmission or S tronic with all engine variants.
Audi added that the mounts of the rear suspension control arms are new and the characteristics of the shock absorbers have been re-tuned while the electromechanical power steering is also new in all models of the A4 range. The interior has also been refined with a new selection of steering wheel designs and fresh colour options, while Audi has also made changes to the steering arm and the ignition key.
