Just less than a week after Skoda announced that its cars will integrate AI-based chatbot ChatGPT, Audi has now also announced that its cars will do the same.

Starting from July 2024, the owners of Audi vehicles made since 2021 and equipped with the third generation modular infotainment system (MIB 3) will be able to interact with their car using natural language and listen to the information they would like to know while driving.

The technology means that owners of these vehicles will be able to use voice control not only to operate the infotainment, navigation, and air-conditioning systems of their vehicles, but will also be able to get answers to general knowledge questions. The Audi assistant automatically recognises whether to execute a vehicle function or search for a destination, and only sends queries to ChatGPT when it cannot answer general knowledge questions. Audi additionally states that the technology will allow owners to ask questions about the vehicle, such as whether they have about the correct tyre pressure, in the future.

New vehicles from Audi with the E3 1.2 electronics architecture such as the Q6 e-tron will receive ChatGPT as an extension of the Audi assistant. The new Audi A3 is also set to get the AI-based chatbot.
