Just three months from the reveal of the AirConsole in-car gaming platform of the BMW i5, BMW has now announced that it is working with international contemporary art magazine Frieze and Marseille-based Artist Sara Sadik to debut a new video game for the platform, alongside a new film.
The interactive playable game is said to be conceived specifically for the new, fully electric BMW i5, and is being developed in collaboration with BMW Gaming and Innovation Lab. The designers of the BMW i5 are further supporting Sadik in the technical conception of the game and extending the gaming experience in the car through the use of sound and light.
Both works will make their premiere during the Frieze London contemporary art fair come 11 October 2023, as the event celebrates its 20th anniversary with its most international edition to date.
BMW describes Sadik's video and performance practice as lying halfway between fiction and documentary. The rtist is said to draw from sources including video games, anime, science fiction and French rap, and creates initiatory stories that centre characters striving to achieve moral and physical transformation.
