    The first COE bidding session for June 2025 sees premiums continuing to slip across all private car categories!

    The first round of bidding for June saw Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums slipping across the board.

    Premiums for Cat A have now dipped back below the $100,000 mark after having climbed above it in the first COE bidding session of May 2025. Easing new car buying interest following the 2025 The Cars Expo could explain this fall in premiums and could also explain the drop in the total number of bids submitted this session for all private car categories when compared to the previous bidding session.

    COE premiums have not seen such a significant drop across all categories since February 2025.

    Cat A COE - Back below the $100,000 mark

    Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp or electric vehicles with a power output of up to 110kW, slipped this session by $5,502 (5.4%) to reach $96,999.

    The current premium now stands at 1.8% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of number of bids submitted exceeded the number of successful bids this round by 33%, lower than the 12-month average of 52% for the category.

    Cat B COE - Also taking a hit

    Premiums for Cat B, for larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc or electric vehicles with a power output of more than 110kW, also slipped this session. Premiums for the category fell by $3,988 (3.4%) to reach $113,000.

    This slip means the current premium for the category is now just 2.4% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 23%. This is lower than the 12-month average figure for the category of 48%.

    Cat C COE - Slipping by $1,189

    Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, slipped this session by $1,189 (1.9%) to close at $62,000. The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 40%, lower than the 12-month average for this category of 52%.

    Cat E COE - Slipping by $4,110

    Premiums for Cat E, the open category, slipped this session by $4,110 (3.5%) to reach $113,900.

    The current premium for the category is now 3.0% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 80%, on par with the 12-month average figure for the category of 86%.

    Prevailing Quota Premium

    The Prevailing Quota Premium is the amount to be paid for COE renewal and is computed from the moving average of the previous three-months of COE prices. Those looking to renew the COE on their cars will thus have to pay the following prices for the respective months.
