A lorry driver lost control of his vehicle and swerved across four lanes, before mounting a curb, hitting a tree and tipping on its side. It skidded for about three metres, and finally stopped after crashing into a stationary vehicle.

This accident took place on Monday night at around 9:10pm at the junction of Sembawang Road and Admiralty Road East.

42-year old driver, Mr Ramli Akbar, was sending shipyard workers home when the accident happened. He was arrested, and the local papers believed that a pill was found on him and was sent to the Central Narcotics Bureau for testing.

One Indian worker in his 30s, who was seated at the back of the lorry, was treated for a broken finger at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. The other workers escaped with minor injuries from the crash.
