Clearly keen to remind Singaporean buyers that it was the true pioneer among full-sized electric MPVs, the Maxus MIFA 9 will soon return to our shores carrying a suite of upgrades that should enable it to do battle against a growing pool of competitors. The facelifted car was first previewed by authorised Maxus dealer, Cycle & Carriage Singapore, at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show.
The updated MIFA 9 can be differentiated from the original car most notably by a new full-width LED light bar up front, which connects the two shorter daytime running lights that were already previously present. Maxus states that the slightly new look gives the car "a bolder and more futuristic presence", but the exterior visual differences end there otherwise.
It's on the inside, however, where the upgrades will be more apparent thanks to a more powerful dose of digitalisation.
For starters, the driver's digital instrument cluster has been bumped up to a 10.25-inch display - a significant step up from the 7.0-inch one on the outgoing car. Even more eye-catching is a new dual 12.3-inch infotainment screen setup, which extends all the way towards the front passenger, and should probably grant whoever's lucky enough to be riding along up front the power to control in-car entertainment.
To enhance passenger comfort, Maxus Singapore also shares that the rear seats have had their materials upgraded for improved ergonomics. Meanwhile, the touchscreens integrated into the electrically adjustable captain's seats on the second row - which continue to feature massage, heating and functionality - now offer more utility, giving their occupants the ability to adjust more in-cabin features such as the ambient lighting and sunroofs.
Furthermore, Maxus Singapore appears to have teased the arrival of its own Maxus app, which will grant owners of the MIFA 9 improved connectivity and control over their vehicles. Quite crucially, the MIFA 9 will also support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for the first time at an impressive rate of 6.6kW, allowing it to serve as a roving power bank.
You might expect that all these additional features would threaten to draw power down from the MIFA 9 more aggressively - and thus affect its driving range - but Maxus is still claiming the same 435km from the car's unchanged 90kWh battery.
Also unchanged will be the MIFA 9's power output. Units sold in Singapore will continue to be propelled by a single electric motor sending 180kW and 350Nm of torque to the front wheels, enabling the MPV to hit 100km/h from rest in 9.2 seconds.
Likewise, Maxus promises the same generous spread of safety assistance systems, with the likes of Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a 360-degree panoramic camera - all of which are sure to be well-appreciated for those having to helm all 5.2 metres and 2.5 tonnes of the car.
The facelifted Maxus MIFA 9 is slated for sale soon in Singapore, with Cycle & Carriage Singapore estimating an official launch within the first quarter of 2026.
