In a move to further preserve its market position, ride-hailing firm Grab has teamed up with American food delivery start-up Cargo to offer snacks, beverages and beauty items to passengers. Called Grab&Go, the new service represents the first international expansion for New York-based Cargo - which has teamed up with drivers of ride-hailing giants such as Uber and Lyft in the U.S.A.

On an announcement posted on its website at 10:00am on Monday (4^th June), Grab said its Singapore drivers will earn 20 percent commission on each sale, a $1 check-out fee for every order from the Grab&Go box (including samples), and monthly bonuses of up to $200 for at least 250 products sold or sampled.

A Grab&Go box will be strapped to the vehicle's centre console for 'easy access and viewing', it added. In a statement, Grab said drivers can earn an additional $75 to $250 each month.

Cargo, which aims to grow a network of 'mobile shops', said it is teaming up with Grab 'to create a viable international expansion model'. Cargo Founder Jeff Cripe said, "Through co-branded licensing deals with global ride-share leaders like Grab, we will help drivers earn more, create a new distribution channel for brands, and develop the next generation of passenger experience worldwide."

Grab said the partnership with Cargo will allow Grab drivers to earn more passive income, while helping to create a better in-car experience for its passengers. It is now looking to expand Grab&Go to other regional markets. Mr. Nash Islam, Grab's Head of Regional Advertising, said, "It's a win-win for both drivers and passengers, and we are looking forward to bringing this experience to all our customers in South East Asia."

Grab&Go has partnered brands such as Kellogg's, Biore UV, Novu and Unilever's Lux Luminique to distribute complimentary products to Grab passengers.
