Jaguar made 350 examples of the XJ220 during its production between 1992 and 1994. The mid-engine supercar packs a 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The XJ220 was jointly developed by Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), which is no doubt why the British carmaker turned to the motorsports outfit again when it needed a motorsports version.

TWR converted nine XJ220, three into competition trim (designated XJ220C) and the other six, coded XJ220S, were road-going versions for homologation purposes. Now one of these six examples is going up for auction in Arizona.

The XJ220S features carbon-fiber body panels in place of the original aluminium pieces, which means the car now weighs just over 1,000 kg. A front splitter, rear wing and wider side sills are also added in the conversion process.

This particular example was recently brought back to TWR to have a titanium exhaust installed. The engine was also re-tuned, to give it 20 more horses, up from the 680 in the XJ220S. You may also spot the upgraded clear headlamps, magnesium racing wheels, and a matt grey finish similar to that of the Lamborghini Reventon. With recent servicing and upgrades done to the car, the auction house expects it to fetch between US$225,000 to US$300,000.
