Mercedes-Benz's most versatile offering in the compact segment, the GLB, has been launched in the region through a live digital premiere.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB has been launched in the region through a live digital premiere.

The GLB is Mercedes' most versatile compact offering, with the option of having seven seats packed into a compact crossover body.

Optional third row of seats makes the GLB the most versatile of Mercedes' compact vehicles
The car sports an upright front section with its striking headlamps providing clear evidence of off-road genes, as are the short overhangs at the front and rear. The off-road inspired design is also evident from the side, where a muscular and sensuously contoured vehicle shoulder dominates.

At 2,829mm, the GLB has 100mm more wheelbase than the B-Class, allowing it to deliver a generous amount of space for all passengers.

The car also delivers a boot capacity of 570 litres when used as a five-seater. This expands to 1,155 litres with all seats folded. Total boot space with all seven seats up is 130 litres. The backrest angle of the second row of seats is adjustable in several stages as standard, and can be moved fore and aft, enabling high flexibility between passenger and boot space.

A widescreen cockpit and the aluminium-look tubular element features on the dashboard of the GLB
On the inside, the driver faces a widescreen cockpit, with control and display via the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system.

A new feature for the GLB is the off-road-like aluminium-look tubular element in the dashboard on the front passenger side.

The robust character of the dashboard continues down to the centre console, where milled tubular elements provide a solid support for the controls.

The GLB is being launched in the region in three engine variants: The GLB200 Progressive Line, the GLB250 4MATIC AMG Line and the performance-oriented Mercedes-AMG GLB35 4MATIC.

The GLB200 is powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder developing 161bhp and 250Nm of torque
The Mercedes-Benz GLB200 Progressive Line is powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with the 7G-DCT seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

It develops 161bhp and a maximum torque of 250Nm, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds.

The GLB250 4MATIC AMG Line meanwhile is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with the 8G-DCT eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

It is rated at 221bhp and produces a maximum torque of 350Nm, accelerating the car from zero to 100 km/h in only 6.9 seconds. The Mercedes-Benz GLB250 AMG Line is equipped with the permanent all-wheel system 4MATIC.

302bhp from the GLB35 4MATIC will allow the car to reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 5.2 seconds
The AMG Line delivers AMG bodystyling and the diamond radiator grille with the single louvre. Sports seats also promise optimum seating comfort while behind the sports steering wheel, which is upholseterd in fine nappa leather with a flattened bottom section.

The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in the GLB35 4MATIC develops 302bhp and guarantees impressive driving enjoyment in combination with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 8G-DCT eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It is capable of accelerating from zero to 100km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
