  • This is the stunning Audi Concept C

The Concept C is said to embody "radical simplicity and technical precision", and will set the design direction for other Audis in the future.

Your next Audi could well look like this: The Audi Concept C.

Well, not entirely of course - not unless you're planning on buying a two-door coupe - but most probably with design elements pinched from this stunning concept here. Unveiled by Audi in Milan just before Munich's IAA last week, the Concept C has been officially referred to by the brand as a "manifestation of a new design philosophy" that will eventually pave the way for its future models.

Audi's new brand face: Dominated by a new vertical form up front bearing the brand's unmistakable four-ring emblem

Notably, the Concept C wears Audi's new brand face, which (sort of) maintains its signature Singleframe grille with the four rings, albeit in a more vertically elongated form. The entire front end takes consequent shape around it.

Forward-looking as it may be, the Concept C actually takes inspiration from two very important parts of Ingolstadt's history - the Auto Union Type C that tore up racetracks across Europe, as well as the third-generation Audi A6.

Four horizontally arranged elements mark the Concept C's head light clusters and taillights out

Another distinctive feature up front is its incorporation of four horizontally arranged elements in each head light cluster. You'll note that the coupe also sports strong shoulder lines, as well as remarkably clean surfaces and horizontal slats on the rear, with its taillights replicating the   quad-elements found in the head lights.

Unsurprisingly, Audi has conceived of the Concept C as an electric car - in line with its earlier-stated goal of electrifying its entire range eventually - and its proportions benefit as a result from a "central-battery layout".

Audi has also conceived of the Concept C as an electric roadster with an electrically retractable roof

Cutting-edge styling aside, the Concept C hints at a new-generation interior that - gasps - actually brings tactility back into focus.

Set against what Audi is calling "strong architectural surfaces and clear geometric forms" are physical controls manufactured from anodised aluminium. Audi is emphasising their mechanical quality here, and even promises that they will bear the unmistakable 'Audi click' when in use. Another highlights on the interior is the car's 10.4-inch foldable centre display.

Physical controls manufactured from anodised aluminium hint at a well-calibrated balance between tactility and digitalisation in Audi's future

While Audi hasn't revealed dates yet, it has seemed to confirm the production of an electric sports car derived heavily from the Concept C, stating: "It previews a future production model and will shape further models beyond that."
