London is rapidly making the transition over to electric mobility. Addison Lee, the city's largest private hire and taxi firm, has added 600 new Volkswagen Multivan hybrid vehicles to its fleet, even as its black cab fleet is now comprised of more LEVC TX plug-in range-extenders than diesel-powered TX taxis.
Addison Lee states that this new acquisition is a reflection of its commitment to premium, sustainable transport solutions, and will be used to replace the diesel people carriers currently on the fleet.
The newly acquired fleet of Volkswagen Multivans adds to Addison Lee's already 1,000-strong fleet of all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles, and 400 Audi A6 low-emission vehicles.
Addison Lee states that it chose the Multivan as it offered premium versatility alongside comfort for up to six passengers, and comes equipped with low-emission hybrid powertrains, which aligns with its goal to have a zero emission-capable fleet by early 2024.
