Need a car but don't want to fork out the current high COE prices? There's a new car sharing app that will soon be rolled out across Singapore, which you might want to try out.
Called 'Car Chilli', the new app is currently only offering cars for hire in districts including Jurong, Hougang, Serangoon, and Sengkang as the firm continues to test its app and gather customer feedback. However, a nation-wide roll out is scheduled to happen later this year, and Car Chilli is aiming to have over 1,000 cars available for renters across the island.
Founded as a spin-off of a successful car rental company with a 10-year track record, Car Chilli already has access to an existing customer database and access to fleet of cars that will be available through its app. The firm has opted to join the car sharing industry after a successful fundraising round that result in a seven-figure investment being raised, and as it sees demand for private transport continuing to rise here in Singapore, as seen in the upsurge of COE prices.
The app will connect car owners and rental firms looking to monetise their vehicles with users looking for flexible and affordable transportation options. Those looking to rent vehicles via the app will be able to access a wide range of vehicles, and can opt to rent vehicles for periods ranging from a few hours to even longer periods. Car Chilli will additionally offer those that want to make a trip to Malaysia with short term rental options.
Car owners and renters will also be offered 24/7 customer support, and car owners on the app will be provided with a GPS tracking and an auto-locking system, so the entire rental process is hassle-free with no face-to-face meetups required. A Car Chilli workshop is also available to car owners which will offer vehicle maintenance, cleaning, and repair services.
